American Staffordshire Terrier Breeders Canada

Although the American Staffordshire terrier is not officially recognized by the American Kennel Club, it is an official breed of the Continental Kennel Club and United Kennel Club. They are both legal for breeding and sale in Canada. While the federal government does not regulate pit bull-type dogs, two provinces have adopted breed-specific legislation. The following breed-specific information is based on personal experience but may be updated as legislation evolves.

The Multi-Purpose Dog

The American Staffordshire Terrier is a multi-purpose dog that excels in many activities, including agility, tracking, and flyball. The breed is also used in therapy work with children, the elderly, and the infirm. In addition to their work, as show dogs, they also make excellent companions and family pets. They do well with other pets and are friendly around children. While they are relatively small, they are highly intelligent and enjoy being around people.

Show Dog

Despite being a successful breeders in the show ring, Dana and Jenny don’t lose sight of their original purpose of owning and caring for their pets. They place their pups in responsible homes. While the breeder is active in the Stafford community, they don’t have multiple kennels and keep a few house Staffords as well. While Dana and Jenny are active in the Stafford world, they do not neglect their bond with the breed. They are active in their local clubs and Jenny holds office positions.

Dogs4Homes

While the sale of a puppy is a private matter, many breeders offer young adult dogs and occasionally even young adult pups for sale. Breeders usually take rescued dogs from shelters, and the accuracy of an ad depends on the advertiser. Dogs4Homes is not responsible for misrepresentations in ads. If you are considering adopting a rescued dog, the breeder’s website may have information for that as well.
